The Gospel for Tuesday of the seventh week of Easter was taken from John 17, 1-11, in which appears the definition of Jesus about eternal life in verse 3: “Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ” I like the definition of eternal life in this Gospel, specially with the “knowing”, since it means, ‘relating’. Eternal life, in this case is, to relate with you, True God, and with the one your sent, Jesus Christ. Eternal life is to have relationships with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; eternal life has Trinitarian flavor. Eternal life is to enter in relationships with the Three, in the womb of the Trinity.
In today’s Gospel Jesus explains, in the previous Chapter of John, the role of the Holy Spirit, in relation with the Father and the Son. He will guide us to the full true. We need to be docile to His action, so He will act through us too.
Francisco Palau said in dialogue with the Church: “ You don’t have soul as us, but you have spirit, and this is the Holy Spirit, third person of the Trinity, who gives you life, movement, virtue, grace and glory; you are an intelligence, and this is in the head which is Christ, Son of the living God, and man, Son of Mary; and with the Son and the Spirit is the Father, as origin from where the two initiate; in you, with you and through you the Triune and one God works” (MR 22, 20). We are reflection of the Trinity, the Church reflects the Trinity. It requires to live the gospel values, so others can see God in us. It seems to easy, but once we start being aware of living the Gospel, we can discover the difficulty in it, because of our human nature. Let us ask the Lord to help us, that really his Holy Spirit guide us always, specially when putting the gospel in our lives becomes a heavy task.
