On the seventh day of Chapter work, the assembly experienced a day marked by deep, shared reflection on the community choices that directly challenge the life and mission of the sisters. Inspired by the figure of the Apostle James and the leadership according to the charism of Francisco Palau, thoughts that emerged from Father Pedro’s homily, the capitulars addressed the decisions that shape the Institute’s horizon with discernment and a synodal spirit.
The preacher recalled the Gospel call to an authority lived in a sense of service, not power. In light of Blessed Palau’s testimony, he invited us to embrace fragility as a space where grace works, remembering that true leadership is not born of domination but of dedication and active charity. Together with the entire assembly gathered around the altar, he entrusted the service of the new Provincial Government and the hopeful journey of this part of the Congregation. The assembly, in a climate of listening and shared responsibility, allowed the question of how to assume leadership that recreates fraternal relationships and fosters unity, avoiding power dynamics that fragment.
During the session, the options discussed—related to community life, formation processes, the updating of the charism, a solidarity-based and sustainable economy, among others—were presented as challenges that require responsibility, mature and conscious obedience, the fruit of love for the Church and neighbor. It was emphasized that the community is called to be a space of care, where each sister can flourish in her missionary vocation.
We have worked hard, but there are still things to reflect on, discuss, and objectives to discern and agree upon. Tomorrow, when everyone rests, there are still questions and topics to discuss, taking advantage of the workday ahead. These days resonate a clear call: to live the Chapter’s options with humility, openness, and commitment, trusting that, even in weakness, God’s strength is manifested and guides the history of the Institute.
