Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Perpetual Profession of Sr. Maricris G. Malabana, CMT

The Carmelitas Misioneras Teresianas and Malabana family together with friends and benefactors celebrated with joy and gratitude the perpetual profession of Sr. Maricris G. Malabana, CMT. The Holy Eucharist was presided by His Excellency Most Rev. Mel Rey M. Uy, D.D. with concelebrating priests and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Marfori as the homilist.

Fr. Emmanuel started his sharing by saying “you are now going to the exciting part” and that Sr. Maricris’ perpetual profession is just the beginning of her journey. He emphasized that it is a lifetime and daily commitment as a missionary.  Moreover, he said that the name ‘Maricris’ is significant because it means Mary and Christ. He also reiterated that Blessed Francisco Palau, founder of the CMT sisters, is an exemplar of loving the Church and the Holy Family.  In fact, the religious name of Bl. Francisco Palau was “Francisco de Jesús, María y José”. And for Bl. Francisco Palau, Mary is the perfect model of the Church.

In the end, he said, life as CMT must have a contemplative and missionary dimension.  And timely to the Church’s synodal, he reminded Sr. Maricris that her life is always a journey with Christ and with others whether she is in our homeland or in another place.

In the profession of her perpetual vows, Sr. Maricris is welcomed and received by Sr. Marta Faron, CMT, Provincial Councilor, and her current animator in Poland, as well as her CMT sisters from the communities of Lucena

, Manila, Pangantucan, and Vietnam. At the end of the eucharistic celebration, flowers were offered by the CMT novices and Sr. Maricris’ nieces while singing Flower of Carmel in honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Simple agape followed and a short program was prepared by the sisters and the novices.
