February 26, 2022 (Saturday) – Sr. Teresa of Sto. Niño celebrates its 24th founding anniversary together with the CMT sisters, staff, volunteer teachers and its beneficiaries. The celebration started with the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Orson Ornedo, Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. He emphasized during his homily, the simplicity and littleness of the children in expressing their thoughts and action. He also connected this to how humble and simple Sr. Teresa Mira lived her life in serving the Church- God and neighbor. That even though she didn’t live a martyr’s life, she became an inspiration through her modest yet heroic actions and deeds in her daily life towards others. Snacks were served after the mass.
The program was hosted by Sr. Sharon and Ms. Marian and the celebration of foundation kicked off through Mrs. Luz Marquez, the Directress of the Center, by giving the opening remarks. As one of the people who were there from the start, Ma’am Luz truly embodies this year’s theme “Sama-samang paglalakbay sa paggawa ng kabutihan sa Lahat” (Together We Journey In Doing Good to All), which was anchored on the theme of the Synodality. It was then followed by the presentation of the pre-school pupils. Amidst pandemic, the pupils’ presentation was pre-recorded and the videos were played instead. Presentation of the parents and beneficiaries soon followed the program. The Center’s social worker, Mrs. Bibiana Reyes shared a heartwarming poem about her 20 years of journey together with the Center in realizing its charism, vision and mission. Awarding of the special awards to the mothers who excelled in different categories were then given. “Natatanging Bata ng Taon” and “Aktibong Nanay ng Taon” were given to the best pupils in their academic performance and mothers who were actively participating in the Center’s activities.
Following after was the performance of the Scholars back to back with a retro dance number from the CMT Sisters, staff and volunteer teachers of the Center. It was indeed a celebration filled with joy together with everyone. The celebration then continued in awarding the families who joined the Tiktok challenge. Afterwards, a raffle and on-the-spot Best in Attire of the Day were awarded to the three beneficiaries.
The celebration capped off with Sr. Chrezann’s closing remark, thankful to everyone who joined and celebrated with us. To be one with Ukraine, a one-minute prayer of silence were dedicated to all the people who are affected by the ongoing war.
May the light of Christ shine upon us, that the darkness of sins and hatred of war may vanish from everyone’s heart. And let peace reign in the world.
Let’s journey together in doing good to all.
